Table of Contents
Status
- 03/20/08 - One area of BE-208 does not have wall backing which is needed to mount the shelves. PP&C is asking if backing can be put on front of wall. ISEC prefers that it be behind the wall for astitic reasons
- 02/xx/08 - IC Lab (BE-109) will need to be distrupted during spring break to allow plumbing installation. Meeting held between IC Lab, SOE, PP&C and Contractor to resolve. IC will move computers before Monday March 24 and move them back after Friday March 28. If IC needs help, they are to call Bob Vitale and ITS Divisional Liaison Terry Figel.
- 02/15/08 - minor questions from contractor being resolved.
- 01/15/08 - construction started, General Contractor is Mike Kelso Construction; Electrical Sub - Cyclops; Mechanical Sub - Wilson; Casework Sub - ISEC
- 11/01/07 - received draft MEP plans from GLP, posted to site. Campus reviewing
- 10/29/07 - List of comments sent to GLP, shown below
- 10/26/07 - Meeting between Pourmand, Berman and Vitale, comments collected for GLP
- 10/26/07 - Revised casework plans provided and posted.
- 10/19/07 - Revised ISEC plans provided & sent to Pourmand
- 10/10/07 - Pourmand, ISEC, Vitale met to go over layout, Pourmand made some final changes/corrections
- 7/29/07 - lab layout sketch sent to Profs Pourmand and Berman for review. * xxxx - Lab meeting between Dr. Pourmand, SOE facilities and Project Architects.

Lab Layout as of July 27, 2007 |
Accessible Requirements
- One lab bench area with ADA accessibility
- One computer station area with ADA accessibility
- Fume hood to be accessible
- Sinks can be standard depth but removable and a shallower sink installed upon request. Many people have issues with the shallower sinks splashing on them.
BE-206 - Main Lab - Items
Fume Hood
Below is the cut sheet for the proposed fume hood. Initially we looked at standard fume hoods as used in other labs however the control handles would have been above 48in in height which is out of spec for ADA requirements.
- Lab Benches with Casework
- Lots of glass cabinets for storage along north wall.
- If possible the casework on the lab benches should have carts under neath.
BE-207 - Electronic Instrument Room - Items
This room will have 2 air tables sized below. The tables may be enclosed in a faraday cage.
The air tables are:
1) 50 inches X 50 Inches
2) 50 inches by 44 Inches
3/20/08- Note a 3rd table will go into BE-217.
BE-208 - Freezer, incubator and pyrosequencing Room - Items
(a) Please show 3 under bench refrig/freezers. These should correspond with 120V/20Amp duplex outlet on standby power.
GPL Response (10/29/07): We will show three Under Counter refrigerators/freezers under that benchtop.
(b) BE-208 Shelf Equipment (PCR Machines) Dr. Pourmand will have 7 PCR machines on the shelves above the bench. These are listed as 4ea ABI Model 9700; 3ea ABI Model 9800.
GPL Response (10/29/07): Is this equipment very heavy? Will it all be on the lowest shelf above the benchtop? This particular L-Shaped benchtop is at +41.5" above floor and is 36" deep (front to back)...can you please confirm that those are the dimensions that are wanted?
Dr. Pourmand Response (10/30/07): Each PCR machine is 20 lb and 9.3 X 19.1. They will be on the lowest shelf above the bench. And yes, 36" deep and 41.5" height is just fine.
The pyrosequencing instruments are:

Freezer info
The freezers have 115V power requirements. The -20C freezers operate with 5 Amps, and the -80C freezers at 16 Amps both operate at 60 Hz. Three-pronged electrical outlets will be required for the sequencing machines and the freezers.
Pourmand Request --
Is it possible to have el-plug for some instrument usage (small freezer, shaker) under the L_shaped table in room 2008?
