Every year UCSC is asked to report about Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV) (such as quad, opto-copters), drones and rockets. We need to know about all drones/UAVs and rockets whether they are owned by the university, operated by the university or operated for the university by a hired operator. This information is needed for the insurance renewal and is asked of every UC campus. Additionally, the information is used to develop programs of insurance or other programs to help mitigate the risk associated with various activities.
Please complete the below web form to help BSOE report on our UAV efforts and to help UCSC develop support programs.
Following is some information that you should know about unmanned aerial vehicles and the programs of insurance:
· *A condition of the current aviation liability policy is that each campus must report UAV's that are owned or operated by the campus; failure to do so could jeopardize insurance coverage in the event of a loss
· *Coverage is currently for liability only; liability is injury and/or property damage to third parties
· *There is no coverage for damage to the UAV itself (i.e. no physical damage coverage)
· * Please note that there are many factors for coverage for example, if the UAV is operated indoors or outdoors, whether there is damage to the UAV itself or to attached equipment, etc.
· *In the event of any loss involving a UAV, please notify Risk Management as soon as possible or if you want more information about insurance coverage relating to UAVs
